About Us

KettleSeal™ was created by Jim McCarter in 2010, and like most great innovations, was invented to solve a specific problem. Jim, an accomplished welder and owner of Upstate Welding Company, was approached by a local detention center with a problem - an inmate had been burned by the leakage of hot liquid from an existing, leaky stem plunger that was installed in the draw-off valve on an industrial kitchen kettle.  This liability, in addition to the tens of thousands of dollars they had spent replacing the stem plungers over the past few years, caused them to seek out a solution.  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Our patented KettleSeal™ stem plunger is the result of the year Jim spent developing the innovative solution in his workshop.  It was developed and designed as a food-grade nylon plunger seal which does not fail under high stress and heat the way your existing rubber plunger will do. Our product will put an end to your replacement needs.

There are thousands of KettleSeal™ stem plungers in use across the world, having been purchased by federal prisons, jails, schools, college campuses, military bases, and restaurants.  Many of the kettles had dairy valves, and so they were retrofitted using the easy-to-install process Jim built into the product.

Unlike every other stem plunger on the market, KettleSeal™ stem plungers come with a 3 year warranty (compared to ZERO from the other guys).  Also, the nylon plunger seal can be replaced if there are ever problems without replacing the entire plunger, with either the snap-on or bolt-on models.

We are confident that our KettleSeal™ stem plunger is the answer to your problems, as it has been for hundreds of facilities around the world.  It will save you thousands of dollars annually, will increase the quality of your food, and decrease liability.

If you have any questions about the durability or the performance of our product you can call the office and we will be glad to give you references.

Thanks for your interest.
